I am a tea junkie and recently it dawned on me that I have not posted my tea recipe on this blog. Blasphemy! Today I will be rid of this sin.
Every household in India has their own style of preparing tea. Mine is not boiled after the addition of tea leaves and milk (very little milk). This tea is healthy and delicious. Sugar is optional or can be replaced with sugar-free.
My Vanilla teacake recipe goes very well with this tea. It just makes the whole experience divine. So relax and enjoy the tea.
I create my own mixture of two different blends of tea - Lipton Green Label and Society Tea.This mixture gives me a good blend of flavor and strength. Please feel free to create your own proportion based on your personal preference.I prepare this mixture and store in airtight container. If you cannot find Society Tea then use Brooke Bond Red Label Tea. In 1kg of Society tea, I add 250grams of Lipton Green Label.
- Water - 1 cup
- Fresh ginger - 1/4 teaspoon, grated
- Turmeric - a pinch
- Cinnamon - 1/4 teaspoon
- Sugar - 1 teaspoon
- Tea leaves - 1 teaspoon
- Milk - 1/8 - 1/4 cup, depending on how strong or light tea you prefer
Add grated ginger, turmeric, and cinnamon in water and boil it on high flame till the mixture becomes half. This will take about 5 minutes.
Then add sugar and tea leaves, give it a mix and add milk. Give it one boil and switch off the stove. Strain the tea into your cup. Enjoy.
If you do not wish to add turmeric and cinnamon to water then use only ginger. It will taste equally delicious.
For those who don’t like sugar can omit it.
